Someone just wished you a happy birthday. Here's what to say back — without either brushing them off or writing a paragraph.
In person: 'Thanks — that means a lot'
Eye contact, small smile, four words. That's the whole thing. If it's someone close, add a hug.
Over text: reply within a day
You don't need to reply the same minute. Same day is great, next day is fine. 'Thank you 💛' is enough for casual acquaintances. For close people, add a sentence.
On social media: like + one comment
Liking is not rude. For anyone who wrote more than 'HBD!', reply with one line: 'Thank you — miss you!' or 'This made my morning ❤️'.
